In the recent round of Approved Contractors forums, the SIA outlined areas of concern to them in the security industry and specifically factors which are undermining the Approved Contractors Scheme.
SIA Spokesmen confirmed their concern over companies in several areas:
- Those who were deliberately failing to meet obligations under the TUPE regulations
- Those not paying wages or complying with wages legislation
- Those deliberately misleading the SIA and Assessors about their activities
- Those Exploiting or undermining the ACS in a deliberately manipulative way
The last point involves activities such as subcontracting outside approved areas, false invoicing, payment of fees, and shadow businesses.
The aim is to remove business who operate in a such a way from the scheme, and to allow legitimate operators to trade in a proper and profitable way.
