UK Security Business Licensing from 2014

Earlier this year the SIA confirmed that Business licensing will be brought in in 2014 following much speculation over their own future and nationwide consultation with focus groups over how regulation might look.

ACS Self-Assessment Workbook

When you are an SIA Approved Contractor, you have to complete this workbook on an annual basis, prior to having the ACS audit. It is used to enable ACS companies to measure the levels of their own performance, as they see it and to compare notes with the auditor during the audit.

Security – Approved Contractor Scores

Following on from our recent success in our Approved Contractor Scheme audit, Security Industry Authority figures reveal that increases in scores from year to year average 11 points across all Approved Contractors in the last year. Our increased score of over 28 points puts us in the top 10% for improvement in the country.

SIA Cracking Down on ACS Scheme

In the recent round of Approved Contractors forums, the SIA outlined areas of concern to them in the security industry and specifically factors which are undermining the Approved Contractors Scheme.

SIA Spokesmen confirmed their concern over companies in several areas:

  • Those who were deliberately failing to meet obligations under the TUPE regulations
  • Those not paying wages or complying with wages legislation
  • Those deliberately misleading the SIA and Assessors about their activities
  • Those Exploiting or undermining the ACS in a deliberately manipulative way

SIA Reveals Joint Ventures

In the recent round of Approved Contractors forums, the SIA has revealed that they have worked closely with the Police when denying membership of the prestigious ACS (Approved Contractors Scheme).

SIA: Further Details for the Future

At a recent meeting for SIA Approved Contractors a few pointers to the future of industry regulation were laid down by Bill Butler, who is the Chief Executive of the SIA.
