Event security

Following on from the Royal Jubilee celebrations, there has been a little consternation over the report of Security staff being left stranded by their organisers and having to shelter under a bridge overnight, before their transport was finally able to pick them up.

We know that we’re going to have even larger numbers of security staff engaged in ensuring the security and safety of the Olympics in London in July. I hope that this was a one-off and we won’t see too many of these sorts of incidents occurring over the next couple of months.

Many of these security staff are not regular workers in our industry and view working at these events as an opportunity to get close to the action during these momentous occasions: we don’t want them getting the wrong idea about our industry!
