Additional Training to be Required by the SIA from October
It has been announced that from the end of October there will be new content to be incorporated into the syllabus for security qualifications from the end of October 2013. This will be added to the specification for the qualifications needed in order to be awarded an SIA security license for any of the licensable activities.
The areas of additional training are intended to raise awareness of more of the different ways security personnel can help to safeguard the public. There are four main areas which are to be introduced:
- Identifying vulnerable people
- Describe actions to protect vulnerable people
- Identifying the behaviours of sexual predators
- Identifying indicators of child exploitation
There is no news of whether there will be a need for refresher courses for our existing officers here in Nottingham and the East Midlands, but I’m sure that the time is nigh!
Security qualifications affected include:
- Security Guarding
- Door Supervision
- Close Protection
- Cash and Valuables in Transit
