SIA Future Update

Posted by:

The SIA has confirmed that it is their intention to move forward to licensing companies once the body had morphed into the replacement regulatory body, which is due to happen sometime after the 2012 London Olympics ( Timescale for the End of the SIA ) ( SIA Further Details for the Future). Whilst there is no official confirmation yet, the implication is that, following public consultation and Government approval their policy will be as follows:

“So what’s the difference between the current regime and the future proposals?
The big difference is that the regulator will license businesses operating in designated areas of the private security industry. It will be a criminal offence for a business to provide a security service unless the business is licensed. “

A clear indication of what is to come, if ever I saw one, and I for one, would welcome such changes!
