Why SIA regulation matters

Security is in our blood here at Foremost Security. This is why we leave no stone unturned when it comes to protecting our customers’ businesses or property. We guarantee high quality security with our performance and services, which is one of our many reasons as to why we have many verified accreditations.

Accreditation by an independent authority

The Security Industry Authority, or SIA, was established for the simple reason of regulating the security industry through compulsory licensing and managing a voluntary scheme known as the Approved Contractor Scheme, which we are part of at Foremost.

Whether it’s putting in security systems or employing guards, security is a major investment for any business, but the SIA ensures that your organisation is safeguarded by fully-trained staff from independently assessed companies.

Fully-trained security guards to protect your business

SIA-licensed security guards, like the ones we provide for our safeguarding services, aren’t just anybody; they are trained professionals who have undertaken advanced training to demonstrate their capabilities.

The Home Office, which oversees the SIA, says that “it is essential for security personnel to have undergone a structured programme of learning and education resulting in recognised qualifications if they are to be effective and professional in their role.” What this means that all licensed guards are assessed on different areas of security, ranging from fire awareness to their communication skills. Not only that, but the SIA ensures that security guards stay sharp with additional training on technology and how to patrol premises effectively.

Meeting industry-standard regulations

The SIA creates a “system of inspection for providers of security services, under which those organisations who satisfactorily meet the agreed standards may be registered as approved, and may advertise themselves as such.”

Regulations are vital in all areas of security and the SIA ensures that private security companies are providing the safe service that both businesses and the public expect. As an Approved Contractor, we ensure that we follow these regulations to the letter.

In addition, being an Approved Contractor means that at Foremost, we pay particular focus to:

  • Processes which ensure that we provide a consistently secure service to our customers
  • Providing the best possible resources for our people
  • Measuring and improving our results regularly

Considering additional security for your business?

Using an SIA Approved Contractor means that your business or property has only the best when it comes to safety and security. Here at Foremost, this is something we always strive for. We only use SIA-trained and approved security guards for our keyholding and locking services, and we have also obtained further accreditation from other bodies, such as the International Professional Security Association.
